In 1886, the North Queensland Insurance Company Limited is founded providing the "Q" in the acronym QBE. Later in 1921, the 'Bankers and Traders' Insurance Company Limited is created accounting for the "B" in the QBE. Finally in 1959, the final letter was put in place with the acquisition of the Equitable Probate and General Insurance Company.
Parent company QBE Insurance Group got its start over 100 years ago. Today the Group is headquartered in Sydney and maintains a dominant international presence with offices in 45 countries including the QBE Americas division in New York. With $29 billion worth of assets and 10,000+ employees, QBE prides itself on being among the top insurance and reinsurance providers worldwide.
