20 Most Stolen Cars List
A new trend is sweeping the nation in the way cars are stolen. Where it used to be predominately large, high end luxury cars on thieves most wanted list, it is now smaller cars that are becoming more popular. The reason for the spike is primarily due to the demand for parts from street racers that modify the smaller cars.
Last year one in every 200 cars stolen was a 2001 BMW M-Series making it the most stolen car on the list. More interestingly though, is that six of the remaining top 10 were different models and years of the Acura Integra. It seems that the Acura is a popular because the higher performance engine adapts well to smaller cars like the Honda Civic. In addition to the smaller more economical cars having increased demand, security systems are usually less advanced than those on the luxury vehicles making them easier to steal.
